Motorcycle Lift 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I was thinking about getting a lift so I can start changing my own oil and other small repairs. Does anyone have any experience with the Harbor Freight one? http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=2792

Or if you know of a good one that won't break the bank.

The $59 lift from Pep Boys works great. You just have to get used to proper placement for getting the rear oil plug off. If your bike has been lowered you may have to ramp up your front tire to get a lift under the frame.

I got my craftsman on sale for under $100 and I can trust the name. I am sure most any of them will work well

I tried something like that and didn't like it at all. First, it sat too high and had trouble getting it under my RS*. Second, once I did get the stand under my RS*, the stand is right in the way of trying to remove the drain plug and had to bring the bike back down and do it without the lift anyway. I decided to sell it and save some $$$ and purchased this.

A bit more money to put out, but well worth it. Also, I've seen some people build their own out of a 4" X 8" x 4' Douglas Fir and a 1" Galvanized pipe. This seems to work quite well for most anything you'd want to do on your bike yourself. I'll see if I can find the instructions for building this simple lift and put it here on this thread.

I think they are all made in china anyway, the Harbor Freight is the one I use..We have a local outlet near by.
Warranty sucks so use it and make sure it works.. Or you will be buying one to swap for parts and take back.
Sears sells one looks the same just a different color.

I have the Craftsman lift. Paid either $59 or $69. Don't really remember. Works real well. I've heard good reviews on the Harbor Freight lift too.

I have the craftsman as well, It worked fine the two times Ive used it... I'm lowered a bit so I have to roll the back tire up on a chunk of 2x6 to get enough clearance..
