Yup. There's a hose. You need to either take it off the intake and cap the port or take it off the AIS and plug the hose on that end.

Bet that's it Musky. Dealer said he plugged cylinder with spare stuff around shop. At least it could be easy cure for what's ailing her. I noticed loss of torque but thought it was from elimination of crossover in exhaust. still might be but I'll search around tomorrow.

Is the hose inside airbox? Or directly on intake manifold?

Thanks for all your help.

Here's a great set of instructions I found on AIS removal. More detailed than one in tech section from nopork.com.

http://nightskycustoms.com/roadstarinstructions.html

So I need to remove gas tank to plug intake hose outlet?

We have instruction in the tech articles here too. The hose runs from the intake manifold to the AIS. You can pull the hose of the intake manifold or the AIS. Your choice. If you pull it off the mani you need to cap off the port it was hooked up to. If you pull it off the AIS you need to plug the end of the hose.

Musky,

Articles in our library very helpful. But I got to tell you, for a FNUGY like me, they aren't all that clear. Pictures and instructions on the above link are much clearer. Ours show a picture of the front of engine after the AIS is removed - but I need to figure out what's what so before pictures even more important.

Just to reiterate ....

- backfiring = leak in exhaust system
- popping = AIS (which you have removed) or PMS needs to be turned out.

If AIS vacuum is not plugged (hose runs from manifold to AIS) then bike will run bad .... not related to backfire.

Loss of 'seat of the pants power' is a result of putting on free flowing slipons.

Guess I need to stop saying backfiring. Is it more accurate to call the noise on decel popping? It's also there if I rev up engine from idle. But hard decel is noisy as hell.

I would think the dealer would know to seal the AIS tube to the intake but I'm not assuming - I'll check it. Turns out it's a good rainy day in Rochester. Perfect for this project.

Well - I was way off. Dealer did not disconnect and plug AIS. Everything still in place. Could this cause problems Ive been describing?

Have another FNUGY question. The plugs in cylinders for the AIS - what are they accessing?

And I see talk of interface fit plugs. Why then do the kits have cover plates?
