XV1700 and XV1600 same bottom? 4 Years, 11 Months ago
Is there a problem with sticking the XV1600 top end on and XV1700 bottom. I see there is a bottom end for sale which is for a XV1700 06 with 7,000 miles and wanted to see if it could just bolt up to my 01 XV1600 and slap the top end to it and gooooooo!
Thanks,

tbenach,
I don't know if they are the same or not. Just curious as to why you want to change "bottom ends"?

Hey Missouri, Happy Thanksgiving
I just wanted a very low mileage bottom at a great price that would hold up to keep in reserve. What is the difference between the 1600/1700 as far as components. Are the pistons, heads different only?
Have a good one.

The 1600 is a larger fined engine for sure the 1700 isn't as big around. The layout of the inside may be the same but I am sure there are other differance as well. I do know the valves are different. Think you would be better off just overhauling your 1600 and maybe a big bore kit and speedstar parts.
